Information

Skiathos is a very cosmopolitan island. It is located close to Pelion peninsula and the coast of northern Evia. The island is characterized by piney slopes that go all the way down to the sea and it has more than 60 beaches with crystal clear waters. The southern part of the island is well developed with large hotels, inns, restaurants, cafés, nightclubs and everything you expect to find in a modern tourist resort. The beaches of Koukounaries, Agia Paraskevi and Vasilias attract a large number of tourists. On the contrary, the northern part of the island is completely different: Wild natural beauty and quiet places away from the intense life. One of the places definitely worth a visit is Castle peninsula where you can see the ruins of a mid-14th century city. Moreover, Papadiamantis, the writer, was born on Skiathos and has described his beautiful homeland in his books. His house has been turned into a museum. The development of tourism, which began in the middle of the last century, has not changed the island. You will be charmed by the picturesque harbor of Chora with the colorful fishing boats and you will become friends with the locals who are very hospitable.
